Cold-Chain Shipping in Egypt: Why Temperature Matters

Egypt covers a wide temperature range. Cairo summer afternoons reach 38–42°C; the journey from a Cairo warehouse to a research lab in Asyut or Aswan can take 24–48 hours during which the vial may be in direct sun on a courier scooter. REPRIME's shipping process is designed to handle this without compromising the lyophilized peptide inside.
Why lyophilized powder
Lyophilization (freeze-drying) removes water from the peptide, leaving a stable solid that can survive ambient temperature for the shipping window — the full powder-vs-solution explainer covers why. A reconstituted liquid would degrade far faster: hydrolysis, deamidation, and oxidation all accelerate dramatically in solution. The insulated packaging
Each vial ships in:
- A thermally-insulated outer envelope
- A phase-change gel pack inside, conditioned to refrigerator temperature before shipping
- A tamper-evident inner pouch containing the vial and its package insert with the verification code
The phase-change gel maintains 4–8°C inside the envelope for approximately 48 hours in ambient Cairo summer conditions. That's the realistic ceiling for last-mile delivery anywhere inside Egypt.
What to do on arrival
- Open promptly. Don't leave the package outside or in a hot car.
- Inspect the vial. Cracks are rare but should be reported immediately.
- Transfer to freezer. -20°C is the storage target per the peptide storage guidelines. Don't refrigerate above 8°C; don't leave at room temperature for extended periods.
- Verify the code. Scan the code on the package insert at /verify — first scan stamps it as authentic.
When delivery slips
Real-world delivery is sometimes slow. Border check delays, weekend transit, traffic in the Nile Delta — these happen. If your package arrives outside the 48-hour window or with a visibly compromised cold pack, contact us. We track every shipment by courier reference; if the temperature window was breached, we ship a replacement at no charge.
Beyond Egypt
REPRIME currently ships within Egypt only. International cold-chain is an order of magnitude more complex and we'd rather do Egypt well than ship internationally poorly.
