What Is BPC-157?
A pentadecapeptide derived from a stable sequence in human gastric juice — what it is, why researchers use it, and how REPRIME verifies every batch.
BPC-157 is a 15-amino-acid synthetic peptide derived from a stable sequence found in human gastric juice. The name comes from 'Body Protection Compound' — the original research framing. In contemporary research, BPC-157 is one of the most-studied peptides in tissue-repair pathways.
A pentadecapeptide from gastric juice
The native sequence of BPC-157 was identified within a protective protein in gastric juice. Researchers isolated and characterized the 15-residue active fragment, which is now synthesized chemically rather than extracted biologically. Synthetic BPC-157 from solid-phase peptide synthesis gives identical sequence at consistent purity batch over batch.
Why researchers use it
BPC-157 has been studied in laboratory contexts for over two decades. Research publications cover gut, vascular, and connective-tissue contexts. Its compactness (15 residues) makes it convenient to synthesize and ship; its chemical stability allows it to survive lyophilization and reconstitution without significant degradation.
Why purity matters
A 15-residue synthesis is shorter than the 39- and 44-residue peptides REPRIME also produces, but it isn't trivial. Deletion peptides — sequences missing one residue due to incomplete coupling — can co-elute on HPLC with the target peptide. Side products from oxidation or racemization further complicate the chromatographic separation.
REPRIME's HPLC report shows the main-peak area against related substances explicitly, published openly on the [Certificates repository](/certificates) for every batch. Mass spectrometry independently confirms identity against the theoretical molecular weight.
The blended pair
For protocols studying combined repair-pathway effects, REPRIME's [BPC-157 + TB-500 blended vial](/shop/bpc-157-tb-500) pairs BPC-157 with TB-500 (a thymosin-β4 fragment) at a documented mass ratio. Blending eliminates the measurement error from weighing two small masses separately, and the ratio is verified at the compounding step.
Form and storage
Lyophilized powder, sealed in a tamper-evident pouch with a unique verification code. Store at -20°C; refrigerate the working solution after reconstitution; observe the documented stability window on the COA.
Verification
Every package insert carries a unique verification code. Scan it at [/verify](/verify) on first use to confirm authenticity. Shop the [blended vial](/shop/bpc-157-tb-500).
